I think the game would be great if you have a few hours to kill such as on a train where space is restricted. Lately I play games mostly with just two players so it’s really nice to have an adaptation that works with two. I used to play Hearts and Big 2 a lot so the mechanics are pretty familar to me. It wasn’t particularily difficult to get the hang of after a few rounds. There is a handy cheat sheet on BGG and I just used the coins from another game. I tried the game today with a normal deck of cards. Thanks for all the insightful answers everyone. "I'm not the kind of shallow person who cares about pictures, I'm happy to play on a hand-drawn map using buttons for counters, it's the exact same game!" And yet, somehow that hand-drawn game map or black and white PnP game is rarely the one that actually gets pulled off the shelf. And if you and your gaming companion(s) fall into this category, well, this is a huge advantage: a world of cheap and free games is open to you that many people will never take the chance to explore. Lots of people are perfectly satisfied to play card games with a normal deck of cards. Some people not only print PnP games, but actually play them. but all the above applies to most boardgamers, but it doesn't apply to everyone. And even if you are the kind of person for whom aesthetics make little or no difference, it may not be the case for the person(s) you're thinking of playing with. This is why so few people actually regularly play print-and-play games, despite the existence of many first-rate PnP games that are much, much cheaper than published games.
